"Bookbrow" generally refers to a book layout design under the incision on a book, which is independent of the text, single-character chapter names, and double-coded book titles. Above two dimensions on one visual surface, two lines of text are like two eyebrows, so they are called brows. The main function of the book brow is to indicate to the reader what books they are looking at and what they are looking at. However, we cannot ignore its other important function, that is, beautify the layout and balance the line of sight, giving the reader a relaxed and happy feeling. The book brow is composed of words, symbols, line segments, and so on. Of course, the presence or absence of a book brow, the change of words, line segments, and symbols, and the arrangement of space should all be different according to different books. Most of the books are designed with the eyebrows in mind. This is mainly due to its convenience in reading and beautifying the layout. The book brow design is a packaging art, and the appropriate book brow is a sacred brush, which can add glory to the book brow, so that readers can not put it down. So how do you design a book eyebrow? I think we should pay attention to the integrity, aesthetics, and practicality of the design of the book. Integrity

For example, when I was designing the "Dictionary of the Historical Records" (1994 edition, 16th), taking into account the "Historical Records" for the Han Dynasty works, it was a grand masterpiece. The Han Dynasty famous bricks, tile, stone carvings, its artistic value has been recognized by the contemporary people. China is the hometown of dragons, and there are no fewer than 100 kinds of stone carvings. When I was designing the book, I designed the Chinese characters to be smaller on the 4th and smaller on the 5th. Together with the text, the Han Dynasty portraits will be carved on both sides of the cut heart of the foreword, the catalogue, and the first chapter of each chapter. Aesthetic

The book eyebrow is "brows eye" and "eyebrow". It plays a role of guiding and facilitating readers' reading. It also has the function of beautifying the layout, adjusting the viewing angle, and balancing the senses. In view of this, I thought that I would not be able to put my head on the edge of the book like many years ago. It would be too single and rigid, like a thousand people. The development of modern society, economic prosperity and rich cultural life have made people’s social life colorful and diverse, especially in the busy and fast-paced work. People are not satisfied with reading newspapers and reading books. "Leather", to study in a pleasant, relaxed, casual atmosphere. This requires the layout of the book to be beautiful and must be highly decorative. Chinese characters are different from English, and English is flower-shaped. It has a strong decorative effect; Chinese characters are square characters, especially simplified Chinese characters. Although writing is simple, the decorative effect is not strong. With the development of computer photocopying application software, there are many font changes, which requires our designers to make full use of computer tools, to play their own artistic imagination, mining the cultural connotation of Chinese characters, call points, lines, blocks, boxes, fonts, symbols, Use black and white gray or multi-colored, warm and cool to decorate the book eyebrows and beautify the layout. Let readers do not feel tired and happy, and the effect of reading will certainly be good. Based on this guiding ideology, when I designed books such as "White Horse Temple and Chinese Buddhism," "Guangguang Master Yearbook," "Diagram Students' Idioms Dictionary," and "Primary School Words Handbook," different book contents were made. Different book eyebrow designs. "White Horse Temple and Chinese Buddhism" and "Yinguang Master's Yearbook" belong to the same type of Buddhist eyebrows. In order to embody the ancient spirit of Buddhism, the texts are vertical, and the eyebrows are also arranged vertically by cutting. The "Yinguang Master's Yearbook" is an anti-line vertical line of text, with a horizontal line at the middle of the line. The lines are lined with double-code titles, single-code years, and the horizontal lines are lined up. The positive and negative lines form contrasts, and the positive line is just in the middle of the book, which is the focus of the perspective, which plays a balancing role. The design of the upper eyebrow book is different, and the specific arrangement was made based on the content of the manuscript, which reflects the aesthetic principle of the book eyebrow design.

Practicality

The practicality of the design of the book brow can be discussed in two ways. One is that from the up and down process procedures, the designer should consider the operability of the next process, such as the design of large items of small format, the design of the book as a bleeding or large bleeding shading will bring difficulties to the printing . If you don't do it right, you can waste. Books with different contents may consider the corresponding paper. Due to the difference in texture and grammage of the paper, the form of book brows should also be considered differently. Some papers are loose in texture and some are light in weight, such as the selection of large shading and ink printing in the field. The system will inevitably cause a bad effect of stacking ink, penetrating and infiltrating finished books. Again, due to the difference in paper materials and additives, the paper's light and brightness are also very different, with white, high white and a variety of color. The same ink on these different papers will reflect different coloring effects, which requires us to carefully grasp, so as not to cause unnecessary passive to the subsequent process. Second, from the perspective of readers, the practicality of the design of book brows is also reflected in the convenience of readers. For instance, when I was designing the "Chinese Dictionary" (Revised Edition), because it was a 16-volume and 9-volume masterpiece, the book brows, inspection information, decorative graphics, and line segments were all placed on the incisions under the heart of the edition. The inspection information is placed on the place where it is overturned, so that even if the layout is balanced and beautiful, it is convenient for readers to read and search. Considering that the books are mostly six-dimensional, I adjusted the design of the books, such as the New Century Chinese idioms. "Dictionary", the sequence of check information made into a bleeding version of the text in each sequence of the first 6 yards, so that readers can easily find the desired content, in the mouth will not cause a dark gray ribbon feeling. In other books, I will check the information from top to bottom and place it in a pattern.
