Japan Development Can Strengthen Degradable Plastics Extension Technology

Tokyo University of Technology scientist Masahiro Inoue and others have developed a new technology that can greatly enhance the ductility of biodegradable plastics.
The new technology is used to manufacture polyester-based biodegradable plastics. Wells use starch and fatty acids as raw materials, provide E. coli with nutrients such as ester acids or glucose, and adjust the culture temperature and the acidity of the reaction liquid to cause a "copolymerization reaction." The resulting degradable plastic has neatly arranged molecular structures, greatly improves ductility, and is more uniform in quality, and overcomes the weaknesses of the existing degradable plastics that are hard and brittle. Such degradable plastics can be used as auxiliary materials for rubber.
Because it does not pollute the environment, biodegradable plastics have become a hot spot for research and development in countries around the world. Scientists believe that the application of transgenic technology to increase the production capacity of microorganisms can produce this material inexpensively and in large quantities.
