Government Support: Doing More with Less

As early as the end of the last century, China realized the role of the country's support for corporate innovation. In fact, the success of Founder laser photocopying is a model of national support.

In May 1975, a science and technology project supported by the state began to start. This project is codenamed “748 Project”. This is the beginning of the birth of Founder Laser Phototypes. As a subproject of the project, Prof. Wang Xuan presided over the development of a Chinese-character laser photocopying system in May 1975. This is an independent innovation under the conditions of closure and lock-in. By October 1980, the sample books that were exported from China's first prototype had come out. The central leadership gave great attention.

With the support of national policies and financial support, Fang has achieved tremendous success in just five years. Founder Group also stands out from the tide. At that time, the national investment was only over 200,000 yuan. However, this fund created a huge market worth billions of dollars and also supported a giant company in the industry.

In fact, national support is also a consistent practice of developed countries. The rise of many foreign companies is also closely related to the support of foreign governments for enterprises. It is their support for core technologies and core companies that have made successful companies such as Samsung, Hyundai and Sony today. This kind of support is obviously worth learning from.

DNA Prints: Make Simulators Innocent

At present, the global printing anti-counterfeiting market maintains a rapid growth rate of more than 30% every year, and there is an urgent need for various anti-counterfeiting technologies. DNA is considered one of the best solutions.

DNA security printing technology is based on the difficulty of biological DNA replication. Due to the uniqueness of DNA, the DNA fragments of certain organisms are attached to the commodities, and the authenticity of the commodities can be easily verified. The successful application of this technology is based on the miniaturization and high efficiency of DNA fragment DNA recognition equipment. A certain kind of animal, plant or artificially synthesized DNA fragment is extracted and added to a so-called "gene ink" for printing. The printed matter is a DNA anti-counterfeiting label. Like normal barcodes, the DNA tag component also includes a database that stores the original DNA fragments that are stored by the tester. When authenticity is detected, it is sufficient to check whether the DNA data on the anti-counterfeit label is the same as the data originally stored in the database.

Electronic Paper: The Bottleneck of Office IT

Restricted by display technology, electronic paper and e-books seem simple and difficult to implement. The difficulties are mainly concentrated on four aspects. The display device is thin and light—similar to paper, contrasting display effect, low-power device driving, and low manufacturing cost.

Electronic paper can be roughly divided into two major categories of liquid crystal and non-liquid crystal. LCD products are mostly developed by LCD manufacturers, and their development difficulties are to reduce the thickness of the product, power consumption and increase the resolution. Non-liquid crystal products use a variety of technologies. The main problems faced are display resolution, reaction time, and service life.

The United States E-INK company is one of the pioneers of electronic paper. Due to its technology and fame, E-INK has established cooperative relationships with many famous companies. E-INK's core technology is a non-LCD electrophoresis technology that uses TFT technology to create an electric field that controls the matrix of charged particles in tiny capsules to display content. E-INK's latest product is the 2004 model, with a response time of 50 milliseconds at 15 volts and a contrast ratio of 20 to 1 that can be curled. E-INK's product resolution is up to 160DPI, high reflectivity, and the display effect is almost the same as paper. Similar to this product is the product "e-paper" produced by Sony's silver electrolysis technology, which consumes a lot of power but can support frequent erase and write operations.
