Use abandoned plastic to make roads! This startup is a one-mile mile implementation

[China Packaging News] Waste plastic is a big problem, and Scottish startup MacRebur is solving this problem step by step, or "mile a mile."

MacRebur is committed to recycling millions of tons of waste plastic to save millions on road maintenance and improve existing roads. In a visit to India, MacRebur’s CEO and co-founder, Toby McCartney, saw local people melting plastic waste to repair the pits on the road, creating the idea of creating MacRebur. Although the method he saw on this trip was not particularly environmentally friendly, the idea of using waste plastics to improve road conditions remained in McCartney's heart.

Road pits and waste plastics are potentially dangerous - uneven road conditions can lead to traffic accidents, and landfill plastics are harmful to the environment. At the core of MacRebur is the recycling of waste plastics to produce materials that make the pavement more durable and resilient, and are dedicated to improving road conditions.

In India, local people stuck plastic in the potholes of the road and drenched it with gasoline to sink it. However, MacRebur's approach is more strategic and more environmentally friendly. Plastics wear more easily than traditional road filling materials. Therefore, MacRebur mixed waste plastics and added them to existing road filling materials to create new road filling materials.

Traditional road materials are more expensive, such as asphalt. And road maintenance often uses taxpayers’ money. Innovation in this area, I believe everyone will be very interested. Adding waste plastic particles to road materials can effectively reduce production costs. Not only waste plastics are effectively recycled, but the road itself will be more durable.

MacRebur Corporation has conducted extensive testing of the project and has built new roads for truck parking, airport runways and parliamentary roads. The company hopes that with expertise, they can improve the way of road construction and plastic recycling in the UK, Europe and even the world.

In 2016, the company won the championship in the Virgin Media Business Voom contest and received financial support from the country. The success of this game prompted the team’s idea of using waste plastics to transform the road into reality. With the well-developed financing situation, MacRebur will go further and further on the road to improving people's travel.
