European companies recently introduced two types of styrene low-volatile resins (LSE), all of which are epoxy-vinyl ester resins with a styrene volatilization reduction of more than 50%.
It is reported that this new low-volatile styrene resin is made by adding special additives to the original Derakane resin. The grades of the two resins, one of which is “XZ95353â€, reduce the styrene volatilization level equivalent to that of Derakane 411-45 resin. The mechanical properties and chemical resistance of the products are all in compliance with relevant standards; the other is “XZ92470â€, Made from the award-winning product Derakane 470, it forms a surface film when cured, which greatly reduces the amount of volatile styrene.
Both of these new resin processes are very good, but they also have drawbacks. According to experts from China Epoxy Resin Industry Association, its light transmission performance is slightly inferior.
