A few simple tricks let you say goodbye to 3D printed model faults

As the saying goes, "The ruler's wood must have programs, and the inch's jade must have flaws." Although there is no perfect existence in this world, we can try our best to be as close as possible to avoid problems that should not have occurred. For example, in the process of printing a model through a 3D printer, there are often phenomena such as misalignment, edge warping, and faults, which will affect the beauty of the entire model and the printing experience, and even affect the success or failure of model printing. Today, Antarctic Bear teaches you some solutions to the problem of 3D printing faults.

The working principle of 3D printing is "layered manufacturing, layer-by-layer stacking", each layer is formed on the basis of the previous layer, the model you want to print is strong and reliable, you need to ensure that each layer is fully bonded Together, the influencing factors mainly include the following:

1. The model layer height is set too high when slicing

The nozzle diameter of most 3D printers is between 0.3-0.5mm, for example, the machine only has a nozzle of 0.4mm but the layer height is set to 0.5mm, which will cause gaps in the material during the stacking process. Although the layer height set by the Hongrui slicing software cannot be greater than the nozzle diameter, many people will set the two parameters to the same. In fact, this will still cause faults, so the layer height must be set smaller than the nozzle diameter, generally at least 20% smaller.

2. The print head temperature setting is too low during printing

FDM uses the characteristics of plastic heating and melting and cooling and solidification to complete the model printing. Only when the material extruded by the print head reaches a certain fluidity and viscosity, and the extrusion effect of the nozzle, can it be firmly fixed in the lower layer On the surface. If the heating temperature is not enough, the material can not achieve the performance of adhesion, and the upper and lower layers will be separated.

According to different materials, the temperature requirements are different: PLA generally needs to be heated to 210 ℃, ABS generally needs to be heated to 220 ℃-240 ℃. When printing, the printing temperature must be selected according to the material. In general, the material manufacturer will give a recommended temperature for printing the material. The actual printing can be fine-tuned according to the specific situation.

3. Printer nozzle clogged

Because the 3D printing material can only be extruded after melting, plus some materials contain impurities, so long-term use will block the nozzle and lead to uneven filament output and cause faults. When encountering this kind of problem, you can heat the print head to 220 ℃ to squeeze out the material or use a suitable size hex wrench or other metal tools to dredge the throat.

4. The printer throat is damaged

When the printer throat becomes shorter due to long-term use, a small amount of consumables will enter the gap, which will cause faults during printing. This phenomenon is often overlooked because it is not obvious, but it will still affect the printing effect in the invisible. Therefore, we can check whether the throat is damaged when other measures still fail to solve the problem, so as to replace it.

5. Material quality issues

If there is a tomographic problem in each layer during the printing process, or if there are no problems in machine performance, slice settings, etc., continuous printing of multiple models continues to produce tomographic phenomena, then there is a problem with the quality of the material. Try again after directly changing the material.

Compared with the model, the frequency of faults such as warpage and misalignment is not very large. Most of the problems are caused by the printing temperature and the unsmooth thread. If the user prints a large model when printing and the entire fault appears to be harmless, it can be repaired and beautified through post-processing, without too much trouble.
