ECM, a manufacturer of ink-conducting materials and adhesives, produced two new conductive adhesives for RFID tags in Dongguan, USA and Dongguan, China. One is used to attach the RFID chip and the antenna, and the other is used to apply the antenna to extend the reading range of the tag.
The code-named Z-axis's conductive material can only be transported vertically in a single direction, which prevents chip shorting. At the same time, the bonding time between the chip and the antenna is considered to be the biggest obstacle to reduce the cost of the label. This unique conductive adhesive can be used to bond the RFID tag to the antenna in one second after the pre-curing process. The adhesive typically takes 3-10 seconds. ECM hopes that RFID chip makers will apply this adhesive to the entire RFID chip process in the future.
Another ECM product can be used on copper or aluminum RFID antennas to improve the reading and writing range of the antenna. Using this material to attach to the antenna can enhance the RFID signal, allowing it to travel further. At present, the UHF band is tested in glass materials, and the transmission distance will increase by 6-8%. However, it has not yet been tested in paper or plastic materials.
