Furniture Design Zhu Xiaojie: Wenzhou and Wenzhou People from Design

Reporter: Hello, Teacher Zhu, you have just returned from this year's Milan Furniture Fair. Can you talk about the feelings of this trip to Milan?

Zhu Xiaojie: At the Milan exhibition, we proposed the theme of “sit down”. Why is it called “sit down?” I think people’s living habits change with the advancement of technology, but they also bring harm to nature because all our technology Development is based on the consumption of natural resources. I think that between people and between people, there is a problem between people and nature. There is a kind of "barrier" in people's minds. Desire and irritability make us give up listening to the surrounding. The more we see, the more humble we are, the more comfortable we are. Only when we sit down and open our hearts, can we think and feel. In terms of furniture design, a chair may be our only one. For the furniture designer, I hope that I can have a chair to pass the world, so we hope to sit down.

Reporter: The concept you talked about is really worth learning by each of our designers. Teacher Zhu, the theme of your next keynote speech is “Wenzhou and Wenzhou people from the design.” How do you view the relationship between Wenzhou’s regionality and design?

Zhu Xiaojie: During the Milan exhibition, there was a topic called “Milan Classroom” and “Watching Wenzhou and Wenzhou People from Design”. I was the first speaker. From the design point of view Wenzhou and Wenzhou people, we all know that Wenzhou people will make money, but few people know that behind the making of money is culture, art, design, I think Wenzhou people can represent the Chinese, people from other regions regard Wenzhou It is a "upstart". Just like a foreigner watching a Chinese, I think this is a representative of China, not a typical example of Wenzhou. To change is not done at a glance, so to "do it", I hope that all Wenzhou people will "do it" and think about what we should do next.
