"Black and White Garbage" Recycling and New Products

The High-Tech Seed Capital Project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Shanghai Pudong New Area undertaken by the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, “High-performance manhole cover and well block for fly ash and waste plastic composite new materials for municipal engineering” was successfully passed acceptance in Changchun recently. The research of this project was successful and realized the regeneration of waste resources, making “black and white garbage” a treasure.

The inspection and acceptance committee expert group unanimously held that: The mechanical properties of this new type of well cover and well block have surpassed that of similar cast iron products; this study has opened up a new road for the recycling of solid waste resources in China, and at the same time it can also stimulate the development of related industries.

According to reports, the main characteristics of this type of high-performance well seat and well cover made of composite materials of fly ash and waste plastics include: excellent performance, superior compressive, bending, and impact resistance than other similar products, and the product has good mechanical properties. The price is low, 90% of the raw materials of the products are fly ash and waste plastics discharged from the thermal power plant, and the production cost is low, which can partially replace the steel and cement products; the appearance is beautiful, the use is safe, and it is not easy to lose. This well block and well cover can replace the traditional cast iron manhole cover and well block. It not only overcomes the disadvantages of cast iron manhole cover, well block corrosion, poor stability and easy loss, but also can save a lot of steel resources, purify the environment, economic benefits and social The benefits are very significant.

According to statistics, at present, about 7 million tons of old plastics are discarded each year in China, and about 200 million tons of fly ash is used. This causes great pollution to the environment, seriously affects the quality of the environment, and restricts the development of the national economy. This problem has become a worldwide public hazard, and has aroused the general concern of governments of all countries. Many countries, especially developed countries, have invested a lot of manpower and material resources in the development of solid waste recycling.

It is understood that during the course of the research on composite materials of fly ash and waste plastics, the Changchun Institute of Chemical Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has overcome many key technical problems and formed a unique combination of waste plastics and fly ash for the production of wells and manhole covers. A full set of production technology data integration software package, and built a pilot production plant with an annual production capacity of 1,500 tons.
