As we all know, Arconic is a global leader in technology, engineering and advanced manufacturing, and has signed two agreements with Airbus to provide 3D printed metal parts for commercial aircraft.
It is understood that Arconic will provide 3D printed parts and 3D printed titanium body parts made of high temperature nickel super alloy according to two separate agreements. Advanced nickel superalloys provide excellent heat resistance for these components, allowing hot air to flow from the aero engine to the rest of the fuselage.
Under the second agreement, Arconic will provide a titanium body mount for 3D printing of the A320 platform. Arconic expects to deliver the first part of the two agreements in the second quarter of 2017.
Arconic Chairman and CEO Klaus Kleinfeld said: "Airbus's recognition of our additive manufacturing capabilities comes from Arconic's comprehensive strengths, including aerospace technology, metal powder production and product certification."
The signing of these agreements is based on Arconic's agreement with Airbus on 3D printing of titanium fuselage and engine suspension components in April 2016.
